Safety & Insurance
Last updated · 3 September 2026
Our classes run in a real working kitchen, not a demo stage. That's the whole point, but it means ordinary kitchen hazards apply: knives, hot pans, a hot oven. This page explains what we do to keep classes safe, and what to know about insurance before you book.
What we do
- Small groups only, never more than 8 at the table (6 for Mercato & Mani), so your host chef can keep an eye on everyone at once.
- Your host chef gives a quick safety rundown at the start of every class: knife handling, hot surfaces, and where things are.
- For gluten-free requests, we prepare a dedicated flour blend and a clean station at no extra charge. This is not a certified gluten-free facility, so if you have coeliac disease or a serious allergy, tell us when you book so we can talk it through with you directly before you commit.
What to tell us before your class
Please tell us about any allergy, coeliac disease, or medical condition that could affect your class when you book, not on the day. It lets your host chef prepare properly and talk through anything that needs it.
What we recommend you bring
- Comfortable, closed footwear.
- Your own travel or health insurance covering your stay in Italy, in case you need medical care unrelated to the class itself.
Insurance
We don't include insurance as part of your class. Bring your own, as noted above.
Emergencies
If something happens during a class, stay calm and let your host chef take the lead. They know the kitchen and the nearest help. The general emergency number in Italy is 112.
Children and health conditions
We haven't set a minimum age for classes. If you're bringing children, tell us their ages when you book so we can help you decide if it's a good fit. The same goes for pregnancy or any condition that a few hours on your feet in a kitchen might affect.
Have a safety question that isn't covered here? Ask us directly before you book.
